COURSE OUTLINE

Course Objective: For most students, this is the last high school course in English prior to entering post-secondary studies. Therefore, in writing, attention is given to research and argumentative essays, and in literature, the study of form becomes more important. The reading of novels, drama, essays, poetry and short stories begun in earlier years is continued in this course but with increased emphasis on structure and author’s techniques. The process approach to writing is continued.
